UNAIR’s Step Forward: Airlangga University’s Public Health Undergraduate Study Program is Ready to Receive International Accreditation from ASIIN

Airlangga University’s (UNAIR) Public Health Undergraduate Study Program has demonstrated a solid commitment to undergoing the international accreditation process. On 30-31 August 2023, a team of assessors from the ASIIN Accreditation (Akkreditierungsagentur für Studiengänge der Ingenieurwissenschaften, der Informatik, der Naturwissenschaften und der Mathematic) conducted an accreditation visitation for this study program, along with three other study programs at UNAIR, namely Bachelor of Nutrition, Masters in Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Masters in Dental Health Sciences.

The opening meeting with the program coordinator and representatives from the Chancellor’s Office on the first day was an enthusiastic start to the visitation agenda. This study program also underwent a series of meetings with ASIIN assessors, participating institutions and laboratories, students and alumni, teaching staff, and partners from the industry/private sector. The ASIIN assessor team paid attention to the learning process, facilities, and quality of teaching at UNAIR’s Bachelor of Public Health.

Prof. Nurul Barizah SH LLM PhD, Chair of the UNAIR Quality Assurance Agency (BPM), in his speech, stated how crucial international accreditation is for an educational institution. “If a study program is internationally accredited, it shows that the education provided at UNAIR is equivalent to education abroad,” said Prof. Nurul Barizah.

International accreditation not only recognizes the quality of education but can also improve an institution’s reputation nationally and internationally. This opens up opportunities for collaboration with universities abroad and gives confidence to students who join this study program.

During the accreditation process, UNAIR’s Bachelor of Public Health faced challenges. Still, thanks to support from leadership and cross-sector collaboration at UNAIR, the process ran smoothly and without significant obstacles. The team preparing for accreditation has ensured that everything goes well to achieve satisfactory results.

The arrival of the ASIIN assessor team is not only an achievement for UNAIR’s Bachelor of Public Health but also a motivation to continue to improve the quality of education and research. With full support from UNAIR, this study program is ready to receive international accreditation recognition from ASIIN, proving its commitment to providing high-quality public health education to students.
