Inviting young people to be sensitive to surrounding health problems, BEM FKM Universitas Airlangga Research and Achievement Department organized the Public Health International Competition 2022 (PHIC 2022). PHIC 2022 took the theme Amplifying Youth-led Movements: The Impacts of Climate Change on Public Health Issues. This year PHIC 2022 held two sub-competitions, namely Paper Competition and Infographics Competition. PHIC 2022 started opening registration last May and has just held the PHIC 2022 final on Saturday, October 15, 2022, with a hybrid method. This hybrid method is carried out offline at Universitas Airlangga and online at the Zoom Meeting. PHIC 2022 this time was sponsored by XL and Bank Jatim.
The PHIC 2022 finalist selection mechanism is carried out by selecting and assessing paper and infographic works from all participants by the jury. Furthermore, if the participants are included in the final, they will make a presentation and question and answer by the jury which is carried out in a hybrid manner. The final was attended by 10 teams from the paper competition and 10 teams from the infographic competition. The finalists of PHIC 2022 Paper Competition were three teams from Universitas Airlangga, one team from Universitas Gadjah Mada, one team from Universitas Diponegoro, four teams from Universitas Islam Indonesia, and one team from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. While 10 teams from Infographic Competition PHIC 2022 were followed by three teams from Universitas Airlangga, five teams from Universitas Islam Indonesia, one team from Universitas Udayana, and one team from SMAN 1 Taman Sidoarjo. In the PHIC 2022 Paper Competition, there were three judges, namely Mrs. Ira Nurmala, SKM., MPH., Ph.D., Mrs. Kurnia Dwi Artanti, dr., M.Sc., Mr. Dominikus Raditya Atmaka, S.Gz., M.P.H. While in the infographic competition, there were two judges, namely Mrs. Muthmainnah, S.KM., M.Kes. and Dr. R. Azizah, SH., M.Kes.
At PHIC 2022, three winners were taken in each sub-competition. The winners of the PHIC 2022 Paper Competition were:
- First place by Ishana Nafeeza from Gadjah Mada University with the title “The Potential of Telehealth as a Post-operative Care and Telerehabilitation Model in Coronary Artery Disease Patients: a Scoping Review”.
- Second place by William Ben Gunawan from Diponegoro University with the title “Climate Changes, Gut Microbiota, and Aging Processes: a Narrative Review”.
- Third place by Happy Kusuma Mulya from Universitas Airlangga with the title “The Potential Combination of Spunbond, Meltblown, and Activated Carbon as a Respiratory Mask to Reduce the Risk of Severity of Covid-19 Patients Caused by Air Pollution”.
Meanwhile, the winners of the Infographic Competition PHIC 2022 were:
- First place by Salwa Naura Kamila from Universitas Airlangga with the title “KAPAS (KAI Free Plastic)”.
- Second place by Sekar Salma Putri from Universitas Islam Indonesia with the title “Climate Change and Food Insecurity”.
- Third place by Tarisya Qurrota A’yuni from Universitas Islam Indonesia with the title “Human and Air Pollution”.
PHIC 2022 Chairperson, Pindi Dwi Irwansyah said “Overall, the PHIC 2022 event has run quite well. The finalists were very enthusiastic about participating in a series of PHIC competition events. The finalists came from various regions, such as Surabaya, Yogyakarta, and Bali. By holding this PHIC, we hope that in the future it can give birth to creative ideas that can bring changes, especially in improving public health.” PHIC 2022 finalists also gave a good impression on the PHIC 2022 event this time. With the end of this event, hopefully, all human resources involved will get benefits and new insights into climate change.
