1. Sampling techniques for observational/survey research which include non-random and random sampling techniques (Simple Random Sampling, Systematic Random Sampling, Stratified Random Sampling, Cluster Random Sampling)
2. Estimating Sample sizes from several observational sampling techniques
3. Sampling techniques for experimental research and how to estimate sample sizes
4. Sampling techniques for Rapid Survey research, and
5. Quick count and sampling methods for large-scale studies
Geographic Information System (SII314) - 2 SKS/ 3.2 ECTSThis material discusses the concept of geographic information systems, methods for compiling geographic maps to describe health problems using a spatial approach and for surveillance purposes, spatial correlation tests and spatial regression tests.
Computer Application in Population Analysis (Practicum) (SIK303) - 2 SKS/ 3.2 ECTSThe course discusses about:
1. Introduction to population computer applications (Mortpak, Spectrum, Excell)
2. Demography data evaluation (Myers Index, Whipple Index, Join Compulsory Index)
3. Demography data correction (pro rata, graduation, age group breakdown)
4. Demography data processing, measurement fertility, association of fertility measures (CBR, GFR, TFR),
5. Measurement of mortality and life expectancy, demography projection (spectrum application- demproj module)
6. Analysis of socioeconomic impacts of fertility (application of spectrum- rapid module) on health, education, economy and environment
7. Demography advocacy based on the results of population projection
